WE ARE STILL HERE! …. and we hope you are still here with us.
Betty, Terri, David ,Salina, Karin and I have not stopped communicating with our friends in Nepal and supporting their work during the pandemic.
It has been a frustrating couple of years, not knowing how our Nepalese friends would cope with the pandemic.. We left Nepal in February 2020, after a visit to see our friends and projects. We have not been able to return in person as yet. Babulal and his crew have been steadily working away in the villages, as the threat of Covid was less in the villages. We are happy to report that our NSP crew and their families are all healthy.
During this time however, we have depleted our funds and need your support more than ever. Our ideal budget in one year is to send $100,000.00 CDN to Nepal to spend on projects.
In 2019/20 we were able to send $100,000.00 CDN. In 2021/22 were able to send $50,000.00. We are hoping to send at least $30,000 in 2022/23 for new projects. Our money goes a long way in Nepal, however, the coffers are dwindling and there is still so much work to do.
WE NEED YOUR Support. Click here to donate.
The easiest way to contribute is online. Currently, we are not anticipating face to face gatherings.…SO…. Please contribute to our Mothers Day Fundraising Campaign and help us to continue our work assisting the children of Nepal by:
1. Providing clean water to drink,
2. Developing sanitation systems and
3. Building infrastructure for education.
I am happy to report that all projects, for this working year, are now complete. We are in the process of planning for the next round of projects in the villages. Our people are able to work in the villages from September to May. Monsoons in the summer months make it too treacherous to work. Landslides and flooding are a real danger then.
Our NSP USA affiliate has been able to support the completion of 2 significant projects. One was a wash (water system) including 100m of pipeline, 2 latrines and 1 tap. The second included 1,000m of pipeline, 1 small cistern, 2 latrines and 1 tap. Congratulations!
They also welcome two new faces to their board: Tarranum Kholi and Supriya Sharma…. both well qualified to assist in moving NSP USA forward. We look forward to working with you both.
A New Scholarship Fund
One of our Nepali students, Kunsang Tamang, who we have supported through elementary and secondary school, has completed his secondary education. Hurrah Kunsang. He has applied to an Australian college and has been accepted into a program to train as a chef. Kunsang, the son of Sancheman Tamang, a valued long time employee of NSP Nepal, will be starting this program in May. We are very excited for him and so proud. Thank you to Oscar and Jenny Signoretti for their generous donation to kick off our new Graduate Scholarship fund which will assist Kunsang with his expenses. The fund raised $6000.00 and will help to launch Kunsang on his way. We wish him great success.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us in the past and particularly over the last two years. Please visit the website to read more. http://www.nepalschoolprojects.ca/
We look forward to hearing from you.
Happy Mothers Day.
